4th of July

My sweet friends joined me for my birthday on July 4th for a paddle boat cruise up the river Elbe. There was a live Dixieland band playing on board which made it a perfect "American" celebration :)

Hamburg!

Beloved friends, Dierk and Nadia, were married in July near Nadia's hometown... Hamburg! We had an awesome time (our Dresden crew: Tom & Jen Bragg & two of their kids, Andrew, Yun & Samuel Ho, and myself) The wedding took place in a tiny church in the woods and the reception was... very German! It was my first German wedding so I wasn't prepared for the extravagant and ongoing reception that followed :) I don't have a clue how late we got home that night! The following day, before we headed back to Dresden, we took a boat tour through the Hamburg harbor. Beautiful indeed. Lots of water streets through the town. It was so nice to get out of Dresden for a bit and see a different part of the country.

International Christian Assembly

In June we started a new international church near the center of town. Here is a picture of our team. We currently meet in a dance studio, "TanzZentrum". Our pastors, Mike and Gabi, moved to Germany two years ago to plant a church and the good Lord brought us all together! Mike (from England) preaches in English and Gabi (originally from Germany) translates into German. I'm leading worship along with a couple other members of our team. There are several nations represented in our congregation..Africa, Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, England, Scottland, America, Canada, Australia, and the list goes on. It's a blast. I love it! To get to worship with so many nations all together... it's a small taste of what's to come in heaven.

Here we go again!

After realizing that I just might be the worlds worst blogger...I'm giving it another shot! Look forward to posts and pictures to come later today... *holly

Christmas in Freiberg

Christmas in Freiberg was great! The Kuhn family has decided to adopt me and never let me leave :) I had a wonderful time with my house-mate, Elly and her parents. I stayed with them in Freiberg for a week catching up on some German homework that was dying to be completed, letters and sightseeing! We saw lots of forests, snow, castles and churches. It was such a blessing to have a wonderful family to spend Christmas with. I was able to SKYPE with my family and even got to see the little kiddos open their gifts on Christmas morning. Who would have thought! It was great to have a break away from Dresden. Back in the swing of things again :)

Coffee and Cakes

Right before Christmas a group from the Bible School stood outside the unemployment office handing out free Coffee and cookies. It was definately one of my favorite things! Being a foreigner definately helps initiate conversaions! It was a lot of fun joking around with folks, getting people to try my home-made 'American' cookies, and I also had several meaningful conversations and handed out three Bibles. One woman even broke down in tears because the coffee and cookies blessed her so much! Really sweet! Even simple things like a free cup of coffee on a cold day really matter to people.

Blessings!
